Alfred Nobel was a Swedish chemist credited with creating dynamite. He noticed how destructive it was when he first created it and hoped that it would lead to an end of warfare. However, his thoughts proved to be wrong when people started using his dynamite to make their weapons more explosive and even deadlier than they were before. Nobel ended up creating the Nobel Prize after writing in his will that he wanted to establish such an award. The Nobel Prize wasn't created until five years after his death.
