Dimitri Mendeleef is considered the father of the periodic table of elements. He predicted the properties of elements that were yet to be discovered. He was born February 8, 1834 in Verhnie Aremzyani village, near Tobolsk. Dimitri's parents were Ivan Pavlovich Mendeleev and Maria Dmitrievna Mendeleeva. He was a Russian chemist and inventor. Dimitri suffered tuberculosis after he graduated high school. Mendeleev became Professor of Chemistry at the Saint Petersburg technological and Saint Petersburg State University in 1863. He resigned from Saint Petersburg State University on August 17, 1890. Mendeleef also has alot of other accomplishments. He is considered one of the best researchers in meteorology and geology. He was one of the founders of the Russian Chemical Society in 1869. Mendeleef is also given credit for introducing the metric system to the Russian Empire. Dimitri Mendeleef died February 2, 1907 at the age of 72 in St. Petersburg.
