This assignment is about weather balloons and how they help us today. Weather balloons are used to help make the country's forecasts, there are about 70 sites where they are launched. The information is sent to Maryland and then sent to regional weather service stations. Weather balloons are inflated with helium or hydrogen and reach a diameter of about 2 m, an instrument is attached to the balloon with a cord of 15 m. The balloon reaches a height of 30 km, then it bursts, sending the instrument down in a parachute safely to the ground. The instrument contains all the information the balloon received, like humidity and temperature.

1. Weather balloons give information about the weather in the atmosphere, a weather satellite doesn't record the temperature, they give different information about the earth, but its more scientific. Weather balloons are cheaper and give everyday information.

2. Meteorologists need to understand the gas laws because the helium and hydrogen in the weather balloons need to be proportional so they can float up and are able to do their job. The densities need to be precise so the balloons will rise.
